General Safety Instructions

Working with Axe & Co.

  • Rule No.1: Never hit steel on steel. This can lead to material splintering and cause serious accidents.
  • Use tools only for their intended purpose. Misusing the axe as a hammer does not correspond to its intended use.
  • Check the tool before each use. There must be no cracks or damage to the head or handle. The handle must be firmly attached to the head.
  • Protective clothing such as safety goggles, gloves and safety shoes protect against injuries.
  • Do not lever sideways with the tools.
  • Only original replacement handles and wedges guarantee a tight and secure connection between head and handle.

Working with Wedges

  • A burr can form on the striking plate of the aluminium wedges after prolonged use. This can be sharp-edged and must be removed, for example, by grinding.
  • Only suitable tools such as a splitting hammer are suitable for driving in aluminium and plastic wedges. Only this tool is permanently suitable for driving wedges due to its specially designed construction.
  • The rule of never hitting steel on steel also applies to wedges. This can lead to splintering of the material and cause serious accidents. Therefore, always drive steel wedges only with a hardwood or plastic hammer.
