Out of the forge...
... and into the forest

Step 11) The forged blanks are sawn off from rolled C60 tempering steel. Step 22) The red-hot blank is shaped on a forging press and the hole is made for the eye. Excess burring is removed. Step 33) The glowing blade is beaten out on the forging roll. Step 44) Final shaping under the forging hammer. Trimming excess material and rough-grinding the axe. Step 55) Permanent marking by means of a stamp bearing the manufacturer’s symbol. Tempering (hardening and tempering) the cutting edge ensures hardness and toughness. Step 66) Sand-blasting the surface. Fine-grinding the cutting edge. A crowned cut increases stability. Transparent varnish protects the axe head from corrosion. Step 77) Inserting and clamping the handle. The triple clamp provided by one wooden wedge and two ring wedges ensures a lasting and safe connection.
